World Quality Day Event at the Faculty of Science – Gharyan
As part of the Faculty of Science – Gharyan’s commitment to quality assurance and its applications, and in conjunction with World Quality Day, which is celebrated annually in November, the Faculty organized a forum on Thursday, November 21, 2024, in cooperation with the University Office of Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation. The event brought together representatives of all components of the Faculty to commemorate World Quality Day and to promote awareness and understanding of the importance of quality assurance.
The event coincided with the Faculty’s announcement of its decision to commence the self-assessment process, marking the second time that the Faculty has undertaken such an exercise since submitting its institutional accreditation file to the National Center for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Educational and Training Institutions.
The forum commenced with an opening address by Ms. Sana Ramadan Al-Jali, Head of the Faculty’s Quality Assurance Department. This was followed by a presentation delivered by Dr. Tarik Faraj Idbeaa, as part of a workshop organized on the sidelines of the forum. The workshop focused on identifying strengths and weaknesses in institutional performance in order to meet quality assurance and accreditation standards and requirements.
The event aimed to achieve the following objectives:
Recognize the importance of implementing quality assurance systems in achieving the Faculty’s vision.
Understand the mechanisms and procedures for conducting the self-assessment process and preparing the Self-Study Report.
Identify new opportunities for future development that could contribute to redefining and strengthening the Faculty’s strategic position.
Identify strengths and weaknesses in institutional performance in order to fulfill quality assurance and accreditation requirements.
Establish a baseline for developing and implementing continuous improvement plans to meet the required standards.
Determine priorities that should receive particular attention during improvement and corrective processes.
At the conclusion of the event, attendees were given the opportunity to raise questions, share comments, and discuss issues related to the topics addressed during the workshop.
