University of Gharyan Participates in the First Quality Forum for Libyan Universities

As part of the University of Gharyan’s commitment to promoting a culture of quality assurance and academic accreditation, and keeping abreast of developments and best practices in quality assurance within higher education institutions, the Director of the University Office of Quality Assurance and Performance Evaluation participated in the activities of the First Quality Forum for Libyan Universities.

The forum was held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, and was organized by Libya Open University in cooperation with the National Center for Quality Assurance and Accreditation of Educational and Training Institutions, under the theme:

“Effective Educational Institutions within the Framework of Sustainable Accreditation.”

The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Omran Al-Qeeb, Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research; Dr. Rajab Al-Akashi, Director General of the National Center for Quality Assurance; the President of the Libyan Academy for Postgraduate Studies; a number of directors of departments at the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research; university presidents; directors of quality assurance offices at Libyan universities; as well as a distinguished group of experts and specialists in quality assurance and academic accreditation and directors of higher and intermediate institutes.

The forum commenced with a welcoming address by the Director General of the National Center for Quality Assurance, followed by an address from the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, who emphasized the importance of quality assurance and academic accreditation as fundamental pillars for advancing higher education institutions, improving the quality of their outputs, and enhancing their competitiveness at both the national and international levels.

The forum featured a number of lectures, scientific papers, and specialized presentations addressing contemporary issues and themes in quality assurance and accreditation, including:

  • Integration between academic accreditation and internal quality assurance.
  • Quality management in higher education institutions.
  • Digital transformation in administration and education.
  • Strategic planning in higher education institutions.
  • Institutional governance and its role in sustaining accreditation.
  • Governance of medical education: challenges and solutions.
  • Capacity building and institutional sustainability.
  • Artificial intelligence and its relationship with quality assurance and accreditation systems in higher education.

The University of Gharyan’s participation in this forum reflects its continued commitment to developing its quality assurance system, exchanging expertise and best practices with Libyan higher education institutions, and benefiting from specialized experiences and professional expertise. These efforts support the University and its faculties in advancing their quality assurance and academic accreditation initiatives and promoting continuous improvement.
